Getting There

• Car

  If you're driving to Fort Wetherill State Park from any point in Washington County, head towards Route 138 East. Once on Route 138, follow the signs for Jamestown and Newport. As you approach Jamestown, take the exit for Route 1A which leads you directly into the town. Continue on Route 1A until you reach Fort Wetherill Road. Turn right onto Fort Wetherill Road, and the park entrance will be on your left at 3 Fort Wetherill Rd, Jamestown, RI 02835. There is no entrance fee for the park.

• Public Transportation

  To reach Fort Wetherill State Park via public transportation, start by taking a Rhode Island Public Transit Authority (RIPTA) bus to the Jamestown area. The nearest bus stop is near the Jamestown library. From there, you will need to walk approximately 1.5 miles to the park. Head south on Narragansett Ave towards Fort Wetherill Rd, then turn left onto Fort Wetherill Rd. The park entrance will be on your left. • Bike

  For those who prefer to bike, you can start your journey from anywhere in Washington County. Use local roads to connect to the East Bay Bike Path, which leads toward Jamestown.   If you are already in Jamestown, you can walk to Fort Wetherill State Park from the town center. Head south on Narragansett Ave, following the signs toward Fort Wetherill Rd.
