Getting There

Walking
Start at the Muhanga town center. Head west on Avenue de la Révolution. After about 500 meters, you will reach the main road (Route Nationale 1). Cross the road and continue walking straight towards the direction of the Gishwati-Mukura National Park. Follow the signs that indicate the direction of the park. The distance is approximately 10 kilometers, which might take around 2 hours on foot. Make sure to carry plenty of water and wear comfortable walking shoes.

Bicycle
Rent a bicycle in Muhanga town. Start by cycling west on Avenue de la Révolution for about 500 meters. Then turn left onto Route Nationale 1. Follow this road straight towards the direction of Gishwati-Mukura National Park. The park is around 10 kilometers from Muhanga, and it should take you about 30 to 40 minutes to cycle there, depending on your pace. Enjoy the scenic views along the way, but be cautious of the traffic.

Motorcycle Taxi (moto)
In Muhanga, head to the nearest motorcycle taxi stand. Tell the driver you want to go to Gishwati-Mukura National Park. The park is approximately 10 kilometers away, and the ride should take about 15 to 20 minutes. Ensure the driver knows the exact location of the park to avoid any confusion. Always wear a helmet for safety.

Public Transport (Bus)
From Muhanga, head to the bus station located near the town center. Look for a bus heading towards Rubavu or any route that passes near Gishwati-Mukura National Park. Confirm with the bus driver or conductor that they will drop you off near the park. The bus journey takes about 30 to 45 minutes, depending on traffic. Once you get off, follow the signs leading to the park entrance.
