If you're traveling by car, start from the nearest major town, which is Underberg. Head northeast on the R617 road towards Himeville. After about 11 kilometers, take a left onto the Sani Pass road. Continue on this road for approximately 12 kilometers until you reach the entrance to the Mkhomazi Wilderness area. There may be a small entrance fee, typically around R50 per vehicle, so be prepared to pay this at the gate. Once inside, follow the signs leading to Doreen Falls, which is about a 5 kilometer drive down a dirt road. Park at the designated parking area and prepare for a short hike to the falls.

Public Transport
For those relying on public transportation, your best option is to take a bus or shuttle from Durban to Underberg. Once in Underberg, you can hire a local taxi or shuttle service that can take you to Mkhomazi Wilderness area. Make sure to arrange this in advance, as public transport options may not be frequent. The taxi fare may vary, but expect to pay around R200 to R300 for the trip to the entrance of the wilderness area. Once there, you will still need to hike approximately 5 kilometers to reach Doreen Falls, so wear comfortable shoes and carry enough water.

After parking your car at the designated area, the hike to Doreen Falls is about 2 kilometers. Follow the marked trail which leads you through beautiful scenic views of the Mkhomazi Wilderness area. The trail may have some steep sections, so take your time and enjoy the surroundings. Keep an eye out for markers that guide you to the falls. Upon reaching Doreen Falls, you can enjoy the stunning views and take a refreshing dip in the pool below. Don't forget to bring a camera!
