Car
Start your journey from any point within Francis Marion National Forest. Head towards US-17 S, which is the main highway connecting various parts of the forest. After approximately 30 minutes, you will reach the intersection with US-17. Merge onto US-17 S and continue for about 20 miles until you reach the exit for Charleston. Follow the signs for US-26 E toward Charleston, which will lead you into the city. Once in Charleston, take exit 221B for Meeting St toward Waterfront Park. Continue straight until you reach Aquarium Wharf. The South Carolina Aquarium will be on your left at 100 Aquarium Wharf, Charleston, SC 29401. Parking is available nearby, but may incur a fee, so be prepared with cash or a credit card.

From Francis Marion National Forest, the nearest public transportation option is to drive to the city of Charleston where you can catch a bus. Use your car to get to the nearest bus station, such as the Charleston Area Regional Transportation Authority (CARTA) station. Once in Charleston, take the CARTA bus route that services the downtown area, specifically the route that goes towards the waterfront. Disembark at the stop closest to Aquarium Wharf. The South Carolina Aquarium is a short walk from the bus stop. Be sure to check the CARTA website for bus schedules and fares, as costs may vary.
