The Scovel Johnson Tunnel is located approximately 1 mile down US-16 Scenic, and you can easily walk there while enjoying the scenic views.

If you prefer biking, rent a bike from one of the local rental shops in Rapid City. Start your journey from Main Street and head west towards the bike path that leads toward Keystone. Follow the bike path for approximately 11 miles, which will take you along beautiful landscapes. When you reach Keystone, continue on US-16 Scenic for about 1 mile to reach the Scovel Johnson Tunnel.

If you're feeling adventurous and want to hike, plan a longer hike from downtown Rapid City to Scovel Johnson Tunnel. Start your hike on the walking trails heading towards the north side of the city, aiming to connect with the bike path that leads to Keystone.
