History of Hoseo Region

The Hoseo Region, encompassing present-day Chungcheong Provinces, was a significant part of the Baekje Kingdom (18 BC – 660 AD). The Baekje Kingdom was one of the Three Kingdoms of Korea and is known for its advanced culture, art, and architecture. This period saw the construction of important fortresses, temples, and palaces, many of which have left their mark on the region's heritage.
The Battle of Hwangsanbeol in 660 AD was a key event in Korean history that took place in the Hoseo Region. This battle was fought between the forces of the Silla Kingdom and the Baekje Kingdom.
