Getting There

• Car

  If you are traveling by car, head towards Sigiriya from any point in the Cultural Triangle. From Dambulla, take the A9 highway heading north. After approximately 16 km, take the exit for the A12 road towards Sigiriya. Follow the A12 for about 20 km. Once you reach Sigiriya, look for signs indicating 'Sigiriya Rock' or 'Lion's Rock.' You can park at the designated parking area near the entrance. Note that there is an entrance fee of approximately 4,500 LKR for foreign tourists.

• Public Transportation - Bus

  To reach Sigiriya by public transportation, take a bus from Dambulla to Sigiriya. Buses leave regularly from the Dambulla bus station, which is located near the Dambulla Cave Temple. The journey takes about 30-45 minutes and costs around 60 LKR. Once you arrive at the Sigiriya bus stop, it's about a 15-minute walk to the entrance of Sigiriya Rock. Follow the signs along the road. There is an entrance fee of approximately 4,500 LKR for foreign tourists.

• Taxi or Tuk-Tuk

  For a more comfortable and direct route, you can hire a taxi or tuk-tuk from nearby towns like Dambulla or Habarana. The journey will take about 30-40 minutes from Dambulla, with costs ranging from 1,500 to 2,500 LKR depending on negotiation and vehicle type. Taxis are available at the Dambulla bus station and hotels. Ensure you agree on the fare before starting. Upon arrival, there is an entrance fee of approximately 4,500 LKR for foreign tourists.
