Getting There

  • Tuk-tuk

    From anywhere in Hikkaduwa, you can easily catch a tuk-tuk to Sinharaja Rainforest. Simply ask the driver to take you to Veddagala-Kudawa Rd. It's advisable to negotiate the fare before starting your journey. The ride will take approximately 30-40 minutes depending on traffic.

  • Bus

    Head to the Hikkaduwa Bus Station located near the main road. Look for buses heading towards Kalawana or Waddagala, as they will pass near Sinharaja Rainforest. The bus fare is very affordable. Once you reach Waddagala, ask the conductor to let you know when to get off for Sinharaja. From the bus stop, it’s a short walk to Veddagala-Kudawa Rd.

  • Walking

    If you're feeling adventurous, you can walk from Hikkaduwa to Sinharaja, although it is quite far (around 15 km). Begin on the main road heading towards Galle, and look for signs pointing to Waddagala. Follow the road until you reach Veddagala-Kudawa Rd. It is advisable to start early in the morning to avoid the heat and ensure you have enough time to explore the rainforest.
