Getting There

  • Walking

    From the city center of Nuwara Eliya, head towards the Nuwara Eliya Post Office, which is a well-known landmark. From there, walk along the Main Street (also known as the Nuwara Eliya - Bandarawela Road) towards the direction of the Victoria Park. Continue walking straight until you reach the entrance of Victoria Park. After passing the park, you will see a small signpost directing you towards Kirigalpoththa Trail Head. Follow this trail for approximately 1.5 kilometers. You'll be walking through lush greenery; keep your eyes peeled for the beautiful flora and fauna along the way. Eventually, the trail will lead you directly to the Kirigalpoththa Trail Head.

    From anywhere in Nuwara Eliya, you can easily find a tuk-tuk by asking at your hotel or waving one down on the street. Inform the driver that you want to go to Kirigalpoththa Trail Head. Most drivers will know this destination, but it’s helpful to show them the name on your phone or a piece of paper. The ride should take around 10-15 minutes, depending on traffic. The tuk-tuk will drop you off at the closest point to the trail head, which is a short walk from the main road.
