Getting There

  • Walking

    Start from the Polonnaruwa bus station. Head southeast on B335 for about 1.5 kilometers until you reach the intersection with the A11 road. Turn right onto A11 and walk for approximately 2 kilometers, passing by the Polonnaruwa Ancient City on your left. Continue straight until you reach a small road on your left, which leads to Kadawala Wewa. Follow the signs for Kadawala Wewa, and you will find the lake area.

  • Bicycle

    Rent a bicycle from one of the local shops near the Polonnaruwa bus station. Cycle southeast along B335 for about 1.5 kilometers. When you get to the intersection with the A11 road, turn right. Continue cycling straight for approximately 2 kilometers, enjoying the views of the ancient ruins. When you see the left turn leading to Kadawala Wewa, take that road, and it will lead you to the lake.

  • Tuk-Tuk

    From your location in Polonnaruwa, find a nearby tuk-tuk stand, or ask your hotel to arrange a tuk-tuk for you. Request to go to Kadawala Wewa. The driver will take you southeast along B335 and then onto A11 for a short distance before turning onto the road leading to Kadawala Wewa.
