Getting There

  • Car

    To travel from Wilpattu National Park to Wasgamuwa National Park by car, start by exiting Wilpattu National Park via the main entrance. Head southeast on the A12 road towards Puttalam. After approximately 23 km, take a left turn onto the A6 road towards Kurunegala. Continue on the A6 for about 70 km until you reach the junction with the A9 road. Turn right onto the A9 road and drive for around 40 km. Then, take the exit towards Nuwaragala and drive for about 10 km until you reach Wasgamuwa National Park. Ensure you have a map or GPS on hand for navigation.

  • Public Transportation

    If you are using public transportation, first, take a bus from the Wilpattu area to Puttalam. Buses frequently depart from the main bus stand. From Puttalam, catch a bus to Kurunegala. Once you arrive in Kurunegala, you will need to transfer to another bus heading to Nuwaragala. Make sure to ask the bus conductor to inform you when to get off near Wasgamuwa National Park. The entire journey may take several hours, so plan accordingly. Bus fares typically range from 200 to 600 LKR depending on the distance and service.
