Getting There

• Car

  If you're traveling by car from Wilpattu National Park, first exit the park through the main entrance. From there, head southeast on the A12 highway. Continue for approximately 25 kilometers until you reach the junction at the town of Anuradhapura. Turn left onto the A9 highway and drive for about 15 kilometers. Look for signs pointing towards Victoria Randenigala Rantembe Sanctuary, which will be on your right. The sanctuary is located at the coordinates 7.1944° N, 80.9229° E. Make sure to have a GPS or map app handy to confirm your route.

• Public Transportation

  To reach the Victoria Randenigala Rantembe Sanctuary via public transportation, start by taking a local bus from Wilpattu National Park to Anuradhapura. This should cost around 100 LKR and take about an hour. Once in Anuradhapura, catch a bus heading to Habarana on the A9 highway. Inform the driver that you want to get off at the junction for the Victoria Randenigala Rantembe Sanctuary; this will cost approximately 70 LKR and take about 30 minutes. From the junction, you may need to hire a tuk-tuk or walk approximately 2 kilometers to reach the sanctuary entrance.

• Tuk-tuk

  For a more direct approach from the junction on the A9 highway, hiring a tuk-tuk to reach the Victoria Randenigala Rantembe Sanctuary is a convenient option. Negotiate the fare beforehand; it should cost around 300-500 LKR depending on the distance and your negotiation skills. The ride will take approximately 10 minutes.
