To reach Alpnachstad from Lucerne, take the train from Lucerne to Alpnachstad. The journey will take around 20 minutes. From the Alpnachstad train station, follow the signs to the cable car station. After taking the cable car to Pilatus, you can begin your hike to Matthorn.
