Songthaew
From the center of Chiang Rai, head to the main bus station (Chiang Rai Bus Terminal 1). Look for a songthaew (a shared taxi truck) heading towards Mae Yao. The fare is usually around 20-30 THB. Inform the driver you're going to Wat Huay Pla Kang. The journey will take about 30 minutes. The songthaew will drop you off near the entrance of the temple.

Tuk-tuk
You can hire a tuk-tuk from anywhere in the city. Negotiate the fare beforehand, which should be around 150-300 THB for a one-way trip to Wat Huay Pla Kang. Provide the driver with the address: 553 หมู่ที่ 3 Tambon Mae Yao, Mueang Chiang Rai District, Chiang Rai 57100. The trip should take approximately 20-30 minutes depending on traffic.

Bicycle rental
If you prefer cycling, rent a bicycle from one of the rental shops in Chiang Rai. Head west on Khun Kon Road (Road 1) towards Mae Yao. Continue straight for about 10 km until you see signs for Wat Huay Pla Kang. The temple will be on your left. Make sure to stay hydrated and wear sunscreen as it can get quite hot.

If you're feeling adventurous and are near the temple, walking is an option. From the city center, it is about a 6 km walk. Head east on Phahonyothin Road until you reach the intersection with Khun Kon Road. Turn left onto Khun Kon Road and walk straight until you see signs for Wat Huay Pla Kang. This will take approximately 1.5 to 2 hours, so prepare accordingly.
