Getting There

Walking
From the center of Nuku'alofa, head west towards the waterfront along Vuna Road. Continue on Vuna Road until you reach the intersection with the main road leading out of town. At this intersection, turn left onto the main road (Tonga's Highway). Follow this road for approximately 15 kilometers. You will pass through small villages along the way. Keep an eye out for signs pointing to Ha'atafu Beach. As you approach the beach area, look for the entrance on your right. The beach is well marked and has some parking available.

Bicycle
Rent a bicycle in Nuku'alofa and head towards Vuna Road. Cycle along Vuna Road towards the west until you reach the main road. Turn left onto the main road (Tonga's Highway) and continue cycling for about 15 kilometers. Be cautious of the traffic, as the roads can be busy. Look for signs directing you to Ha'atafu Beach. After cycling about 15 kilometers, you will see the entrance to the beach on your right side.

Take a local bus from Nuku'alofa to the Ha'atafu Beach area. You can find the bus stop near the central market. Look for buses heading towards the western villages. Confirm with the driver your destination, as not all buses may go directly to Ha'atafu Beach. The ride will take approximately 30 to 45 minutes depending on the number of stops. Once you arrive at the nearest bus stop to Ha'atafu Beach, walk a short distance towards the beach entrance which will be clearly marked.
