Getting There

  • Car

    From Kibale National Park, head northwest on the Bwamba Road towards Fort Portal. After about 30 kilometers, you will reach Fort Portal town. At the roundabout in Fort Portal, take the second exit onto the A109 road towards Kampala. Continue on A109 for about 160 kilometers. As you approach Masindi, look for signs that direct you to the Murchison Falls National Park turnoff. Follow the signs to the park entrance, which is approximately 20 kilometers from the turnoff. Be prepared for a possible entrance fee of around 40,000 UGX for foreign visitors, payable at the park gate.

  • Public Transportation

    From Kibale National Park, make your way to the nearest town, which is often Fort Portal. You can hire a taxi or use a boda-boda (motorcycle taxi) to reach Fort Portal. Once in Fort Portal, take a taxi (shared minibus) heading to Kampala. Inform the driver that you want to get off at Masindi. This journey will take approximately 3-4 hours. From Masindi, you can catch another taxi to Murchison Falls National Park. The last leg of the journey will be around 20 kilometers from the main road to the park entrance. Ensure to check for entrance fees, which are approximately 40,000 UGX for foreign visitors.
