Getting There

  • Car Rental

    If you have rented a car in Lake Bunyonyi, start by heading southeast on the main road towards Kabale. Continue on this road for about 20 km until you reach the junction at Kabale. Take a left turn at the junction and follow the signs towards Ruhija. The journey from Kabale to Ruhija is approximately 30 km, mostly on a dirt road, so drive carefully. After about 30 minutes, you will arrive at the Ruhija Gorilla Trekking Camp, located at WQXH+984, Luhizha.

  • Public Transportation - Matatu

    From Lake Bunyonyi, you can take a matatu (shared taxi) to Kabale. Head to the main matatu stage in Lake Bunyonyi and board a matatu heading to Kabale. The fare is usually around 5,000 UGX per person and the journey takes approximately 30 minutes. Once in Kabale, you will need to find another matatu or motorcycle taxi to Ruhija. Look for matatus that have signs indicating they are heading to Ruhija. The fare to Ruhija will be around 10,000 UGX and the trip will take about 45 minutes.
