Getting There

    If you are driving, start by heading towards Sipi Falls from the main road in Mount Elgon National Park. Follow the signs towards Sipi village. As you approach Sipi village, look for a road that leads to the Sipi I Waterfall. The waterfall is approximately a 10-minute drive from the village center. You will need to park your car at the designated parking area near the waterfall. There may be a small parking fee of around 5,000 UGX (Ugandan Shillings).

  • Public Transportation

    To reach Sipi I Waterfall via public transportation, take a matatu (shared taxi) from Mbale town to Sipi village. The journey takes about 1 to 1.5 hours. Once you arrive in Sipi village, you can either walk to the waterfall (approximately 30-40 minutes) or hire a local guide with a motorcycle (boda-boda) for about 10,000 UGX to take you closer to the waterfall. If you choose to walk, follow the signs that direct you towards Sipi I Waterfall.
