Car
From Down, get onto the A1(M) motorway heading north. Continue on the A1(M) until you reach the A167(M) exit towards Gateshead. Merge onto the A167(M) and continue until you reach the A184 exit towards South Shields. Follow the A184 for about 5 miles, then take the A1(M) northbound again. Exit onto the A692 towards Stanley. Follow the A692 for about 5 miles, then turn left onto Beamish Burn Road. Continue for 1 mile, and you will find Beamish, the Living Museum of the North on your right. Note: Parking is available on-site, and there may be a parking fee.

Public Transportation
From Down, take a bus to Newcastle Central Station. Buses such as the X1 and X2 service this route frequently. Once at Newcastle Central Station, transfer to the train service towards Hexham. Alight at the nearest train station to Beamish, which is the Dunston station. From there, take the local bus service (number 29) towards Stanley, and get off at the Beamish stop. The museum is a short walk from the bus stop. Ensure to check the local bus and train schedules for exact timings, as they may vary.
