Start at Newcastle Central Metro Station. Take the Metro Line to South Shields and get off at the Pelaw Station. At Pelaw Station, transfer to the Line towards Sunderland. Get off at the Washington Station. From Washington Station, it's a 20-minute walk to Washington Old Hall. Exit the station and head east on the A183. Continue straight until you reach The Avenue, then turn right and follow it until you see Washington Old Hall on your left.

From Newcastle upon Tyne, head to Eldon Square Bus Station. Take the Go North East Bus number 82 to Washington. The journey takes about 30 minutes. Get off at the stop nearest to The Avenue, then walk down The Avenue toward Washington Old Hall, which will be on your left. Ensure to check the bus times for the return journey.

If you are staying in the city center of Newcastle upon Tyne, you can opt for a scenic walk to Washington Old Hall. Start at Newcastle Quayside, walk along the River Tyne towards the east, and follow the riverside paths to reach the A184 road. Continue walking along the A184, then join the A183 towards Washington. This walk is approximately 6 miles and will take about 2 hours; it's a longer but pleasant way to enjoy the countryside.
