A Unique Construction Adventure
Diggerland Durham stands apart as the UK's premier construction-themed adventure park, offering an experience unlike any traditional theme park. Rather than passive rides, visitors actively drive, ride, and operate real, full-size earth-moving machinery including diggers, dumpers, telehandlers, and long-reach excavators. The park features over 20 different attractions and more than 100 machines, ensuring that whether you're a first-time visitor or a returning enthusiast, there's always something new to discover. The hands-on nature of the experience creates genuine excitement and accomplishment, as guests take control of professional-grade equipment in a carefully supervised, safe environment.Attractions and Experiences
The park's signature attractions include the Spindizzy, Mini-Tractors, Groundshuttle, Dig-a-Round, Go-Karts, and Dodgems, each offering distinct thrills and operational challenges. The standout feature is the Diggerland Skyshuttle, which elevates visitors 50 feet above the park, providing spectacular panoramic views of the surrounding landscape and the industrial estate below. This combination of ground-level machinery operation and elevated vantage points creates a well-rounded adventure. Additional activities cater to different interests and abilities, from younger children operating smaller equipment to teenagers and adults tackling more complex machinery. The park's design ensures that visitors spend their time actively engaged rather than waiting in queues.Setting and Accessibility
Situated in Langley Park on the outskirts of Durham, Diggerland occupies a spacious industrial estate setting that provides ample room for the machinery and activities. The location is easily accessible by car via the A1(M) motorway, with clear signage and straightforward directions. The park offers 200 free on-site parking spaces, dedicated disabled parking areas, and free coach parking for group visits. For those with electric vehicles, EV charging facilities are available during opening hours. The site features comprehensive accessibility provisions including ramp and level access throughout, disabled visitor facilities, guide dog accommodation, and baby changing amenities. An on-site café and restaurant serve food and beverages, while outdoor picnic areas allow visitors to bring their own refreshments.Seasonal Operation and Planning
Diggerland Durham operates seasonally, typically opening from February through November each year, with specific opening dates varying annually. During the operating season, the park generally opens at 10:00 AM, with closing times varying between 4:00 PM and 5:00 PM depending on the day of the week and season. The park is typically closed on weekdays during certain periods, so advance planning is essential. Online ticket booking offers significant savings compared to gate prices, with adults and children over 100 centimetres in height paying reduced rates when booked in advance. Visitors under 100 centimetres receive free entry, and concessions are available for over-65s and disabled visitors, with complimentary access for disabled carers.Group and Corporate Opportunities
Beyond standard admission, Diggerland offers private access for group events, corporate gatherings, and filming on days when the park is closed to the public. This flexibility makes it suitable for team-building exercises, special celebrations, and unique creative projects. The park's partnership with H.E. Services Plant Hire Ltd, located adjacent to the theme park, also enables visitors to arrange digger rentals for off-site projects. The combination of public attractions and private event capabilities positions Diggerland as a versatile venue for various occasions.Iconic landmarks you can’t miss
