Walking
If you're starting from Edinburgh Waverley Station, exit the station and head northwest onto Market Street. Continue straight until you reach the roundabout at the end of Market Street, and take the first exit onto the Mound. Follow the Mound, which will eventually turn into Bank Street. Keep walking straight until you reach the junction with Chambers Street. Turn left onto Chambers Street, and the William Henry Playfair Monument will be on your right at Chambers St, Edinburgh EH1 1JZ.

Public Transport
From the city center, you can take bus number 23 or 27 from St Andrew Square Bus Station. Board the bus and get off at the 'Lothian Road' stop. From there, walk down Lothian Road towards the Grassmarket area. At the Grassmarket, take a left turn onto Victoria Street, which will lead you uphill to George IV Bridge. Continue straight until you reach Chambers Street, where you will find the William Henry Playfair Monument on your left.

If you are near the Edinburgh Castle, exit the castle grounds and head down the Royal Mile towards the east. Continue walking until you reach the junction with George IV Bridge, and then take a right turn onto George IV Bridge. Follow this road until you reach the junction with Chambers Street. Turn left onto Chambers Street, and you will find the William Henry Playfair Monument a short distance ahead on your right.
