Car
If you are driving to Loch Shieldaig, start your journey from the town of Portree, the capital of Isle of Skye. Head west on the A87 towards Broadford and continue onto the A850. After approximately 20 miles, turn left onto the B883 towards Elgol. Follow this road for about 8 miles until you reach the junction with the A851. Turn right onto the A851 and continue for about 3 miles. You will see signs for Loch Shieldaig along the way. Once you reach the loch, there are several parking areas available near the water's edge.

Public Transportation
To reach Loch Shieldaig by public transportation, start by taking a bus from Portree to Broadford. The bus service is operated by Stagecoach and runs several times a day. Once you reach Broadford, transfer to a local bus heading towards Elgol. You will need to check the bus schedules in advance as they may not run frequently. After arriving in Elgol, you can either walk (which is about a 20-minute walk) or take a local taxi to Loch Shieldaig. Taxis can be found near the bus stop in Elgol, and the fare to Loch Shieldaig should be around £10-£15.

If you are already near Loch Shieldaig and wish to explore on foot, there are several walking paths around the loch. From the main parking area, you can follow the path along the north shore, which offers stunning views of the surrounding landscape.
