Getting There

• Car

  If you're traveling by car, head towards Bamburgh from the A1 motorway. Take the A1 north if you're coming from Newcastle or the south, or the A1 south if you're coming from Berwick-upon-Tweed. Exit onto the A1068, following signs for Bamburgh. Once in Bamburgh, follow the signs to Bamburgh Castle. There is a parking lot near the castle; be aware that parking may incur a fee.

• Public Transportation

  To reach Bamburgh Castle by public transport, take a train to Alnwick or Berwick-upon-Tweed. From Alnwick, catch a bus (service 418 or 419) to Bamburgh; the bus ride takes approximately 30 minutes. If traveling from Berwick-upon-Tweed, take the 477 bus, which also goes directly to Bamburgh. Check the bus schedules in advance as they may vary, especially on weekends.

• Walking

  If you're already in Bamburgh village, the castle is easily accessible on foot. From the main street in Bamburgh, follow the signs leading towards the castle. It’s a short walk of about 10-15 minutes, and the path is well-marked and picturesque.

• Taxi

  For convenience, you can also hire a taxi from nearby towns like Alnwick or Berwick-upon-Tweed. Taxi services can be found at the train stations, and a taxi ride to Bamburgh Castle will take about 20-30 minutes, depending on traffic. Be sure to confirm the fare with the driver before starting your journey.
