Getting There

  • Walking

    From St. Peter's Square, head towards the main entrance of St. Peter's Basilica and exit onto Via della Conciliazione. Turn right and continue walking straight along this road until you reach the Tiber River. Cross the river using the Ponte Sant'Angelo bridge. After crossing the bridge, turn left onto Lungotevere Castello, then follow the riverbank until you reach the next bridge, Ponte Vittorio Emanuele II. Cross this bridge, and continue straight onto Via dei Banchi Nuovi. After a few blocks, turn right onto Via di San Giovanni della Fossa, and continue until you reach the intersection with Viale dei Romagnoli. Turn left onto Viale dei Romagnoli, and Ostia Antica will be on your left.

  • Public Transport

    From St. Peter's Square, walk to the nearest bus stop located at Via della Conciliazione. Take Bus 23 towards 'Piazza Risorgimento'. After about 10 minutes, get off at the stop 'Piazza dei Partigiani'. From there, transfer to Bus 05 towards 'Ostia Antica'. Stay on the bus for approximately 30 minutes. Get off at the stop 'Ostia Antica'. You will find the entrance to the archaeological site a short walk from the bus stop.
