Getting There

    From the Vatican Necropolis, exit the site and head towards the main entrance of St. Peter's Basilica. Once you reach the square in front of the basilica, face the basilica and walk straight across the square towards the street known as Via della Conciliazione. Continue walking straight until you reach the end of the street, where it intersects with the Tiber River. Turn left onto the riverbank promenade, following the river. As you walk along the river, keep an eye out for the Ponte Rotto (Pons Aemilius), which is about a 20-minute walk from the basilica. You will see the ancient bridge on your right as you approach it.

    Alternatively, from Vatican Necropolis, exit towards the Vatican Museums. Once you exit the Museums, walk down Viale Vaticano until you reach Piazza Risorgimento. From there, take Via Leone IV and continue straight until you reach the Tiber River. Turn left and follow the riverbank towards the Ponte Rotto. The walk will take approximately 25 minutes, and you will enjoy beautiful views along the river.
