Ferry
To reach Washington Island Stavkirke, start at the ferry terminal in Northport, located at the tip of the Door Peninsula. The ferry service operates year-round and is the only way to get to Washington Island. Check the ferry schedule at https://www.wisferry.com for current departure times. Purchase your tickets at the terminal. Once aboard, enjoy the scenic ride across the waters of Lake Michigan, which typically takes about 30 minutes. Upon arrival at Washington Island, disembark and head south on Main Road.

Bicycle or Walking
After disembarking from the ferry on Washington Island, you can either rent a bicycle or begin walking towards the Stavkirke. Head south on Main Road, which will lead you towards the center of the island. Continue straight until you reach the intersection with Town Line Road. Turn left onto Town Line Road. The Stavkirke will be on your right after a short distance. The walk is approximately 1.5 miles from the ferry dock, while biking will take less time.
