Breathtaking Views at Riparian Overlook

Getting There

• Car

  If you are in Saguaro National Park (either the East or West District), the easiest way to reach Riparian Overlook is by car. From the East District Visitor Center, head west on E Old Spanish Trail. Continue for about 7 miles until you reach the intersection of S Old Spanish Trail and E 36th St. Turn left onto S Old Spanish Trail and continue for about 1.5 miles. The Riparian Overlook will be on your left, at 3693 S Old Spanish Trail. There is no entrance fee specifically for the overlook, but be aware of any park fees you may have already paid to enter Saguaro National Park.

• Public Transportation

  Public transportation options to Riparian Overlook may be limited due to the park's rural location. However, you can take a bus from downtown Tucson to the nearest bus stop along E Old Spanish Trail. Check the local bus service, Sun Tran, for routes that will take you towards the area. Once you arrive at the nearest bus stop, you will need to walk approximately 1.5 miles to reach Riparian Overlook. Be sure to wear comfortable walking shoes and stay hydrated, as the desert climate can be dry and hot.

• Walking

  If you are already in the vicinity of Riparian Overlook, walking can be a great way to enjoy the scenic desert landscape. From the nearest bus stop on E Old Spanish Trail, walk south for about 1.5 miles. The overlook will be on your left-hand side, marked by signs. Make sure to have a map or GPS device handy to assist you in navigating the area.
