Tatev Monastery was founded in the 9th century on the site of an ancient pagan temple. It quickly became an important center for education and spirituality in medieval Armenia. From Yerevan, you can take a taxi or a minibus (marshrutka) to Tatev. The journey typically takes around 4 to 5 hours by road. Another popular option is to drive to Halidzor and take the Wings of Tatev, a cable car that offers a scenic and direct route to the monastery.

Once you reach Tatev, the monastery and its surrounding areas are best explored on foot. The Wings of Tatev cable car connects Halidzor with Tatev Monastery and offers a unique mode of transport.
