    From Sea World Drive, locate the Philip Park car park opposite Sea World. Look for the fig tree and the Federation Walk Coastal Reserve signage. The trailhead begins at the information board in the car park. Follow the 3.5km walkway through the reserve.

    Take bus route 705 towards Sea World from Surfers Paradise. Alight at the bus stop on Sea World Drive. The entrance to Federation Walk Coastal Reserve is less than 100m from the bus stop. A single bus fare will cost approximately $2.84 - $3.55.

    From Surfers Paradise, a taxi or ride-share to the Philip Park car park on Sea World Drive will take approximately 15 minutes, depending on traffic. Expect to pay around $25 - $35.

Federation Walk Coastal Reserve is a 60-hectare (93 hectares also reported) haven on The Spit, stretching from Philip Park near Sea World to the Gold Coast Seaway. This reserve showcases a dynamic coastal environment with littoral rainforest, native grasslands, and pockets of wetlands. The Federation Walk project was a community initiative that began in 1999 to conserve and enhance the area as a natural public space. The first stage of the walk was officially opened in 2001. Today, the 3.5-kilometer pedestrian walkway invites visitors to immerse themselves in nature, offering a peaceful retreat from the bustling city. As you stroll along the trails, keep an eye out for diverse birdlife, including Rainbow Bee-eaters and Bush Stone-curlews. The reserve is also home to various flora, including coastal banksias and weeping figs. The walk continues under the sand bypass jetty, leading to the Gold Coast Seaway, where you can enjoy panoramic views of the coastline. The reserve is undergoing ongoing improvements as part of The Spit Master Plan, including coastal rainforest restoration, an accessible Oceanway, and new day-use areas. These enhancements aim to provide a better experience for all visitors while preserving the area's natural beauty.
