If you're traveling by car, start from Cairns, which is about 30 kilometers away from Gillies Lookout. Take the Bruce Highway (A1) towards Gordonvale, then turn onto the Gillies Highway (State Route 25). Follow the Gillies Highway for approximately 18 kilometers until you reach the turnoff for Danbulla. Take a left onto Madigan Road and continue for about 3 kilometers. Gillies Lookout will be on your right at 90 Madigan Rd, Danbulla QLD 4872. There is no entry fee for visiting the lookout.

If you're using public transportation, you can take a bus from Cairns to Gordonvale. From the Gordonvale bus stop, you will need to use a taxi or rideshare service to reach Gillies Lookout, as there are no direct public transport options available from Gordonvale to Danbulla. Expect to pay around AUD 30-40 for the taxi ride, which is approximately 20 kilometers.

For the adventurous, cycling from Cairns to Gillies Lookout is an option. Take the same route as the car, using the Gillies Highway. The ride is approximately 30 kilometers and is recommended only for experienced cyclists due to the steep gradients of the Gillies Highway.
