From Mirabell Gardens, walk south along Makartplatz; the Residence will be on your right. From Salzburg Cathedral, walk across the river via the Mozartsteg bridge, then continue along Makartplatz to find the Residence on your left. No costs are associated with walking.

Step back in time at the Mozart Residence, where Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart lived with his family for several years. From 1773 to 1787, the Mozart family resided in the spacious eight-room apartment of the 'Dance Master's House,' now known as the Mozart Residence. This provided ample space for the family and their social gatherings. The museum showcases a collection of original documents, portraits, and historical instruments, including Mozart's pianoforte, offering insights into the composer's life and work during his Salzburg years. Visitors can explore exhibits detailing the history of the house, the Mozart family's social environment, and Mozart's musical development. After being partially destroyed during World War II, the Mozart Residence was reconstructed and reopened in 1996.
