Khan Mohammad Mridha Masjid, situated in the historic Lalbagh area of Dhaka, is a remarkable example of Mughal architecture dating back to the early 18th century. Constructed around 1704-1706 AD, the mosque was commissioned by Khan Mohammad Mridha under the instruction of Qadi Ibadullah. The mosque provides a window into the rich history and culture of the region. The mosque is located approximately 500 meters west of Lalbagh Fort. It is built on a 5.8-meter-high raised platform. Underneath the platform, vaulted rooms were used for living purposes. A stairway of 25 steps on the eastern side leads to a gateway that aligns with the central doorway of the mosque. The prayer hall is a rectangular structure measuring approximately 48 feet by 24 feet, capped with three domes, the central one being the largest. The mosque's facade is decorated with paneling and ornamental merlons along the parapet. The interior is divided into three bays by two lateral arches. The mosque complex also includes a graveyard and a garden. The Department of Archaeology, Bangladesh, has restored the mosque, and it is now a protected monument.
