Getting There

    If you are driving, start from the town of Samokov. Head southwest on the main road (E79) towards Rila Monastery. After approximately 20 kilometers, turn right onto the road leading to Rilski Manastir. Follow the signs for Rila Monastery (Рилски манастир) and continue for about 10 kilometers until you reach the monastery complex. Parking is available near the entrance. From the monastery, the Cave of Saint John of Rila is about a 30-minute hike up the mountain trail, following the signs.
