Getting There

  • Private Car

    If you are traveling by private car within Nyungwe Forest National Park, head towards Gisakura by following the main park road. Look for signs indicating 'Gisakura' as you drive through the lush forest. The journey from the main entrance of Nyungwe to Gisakura takes approximately 30 minutes. Once you reach Gisakura, the information center will be on your right-hand side, just before the community tourism office.

  • Public Transportation

    For those using public transportation, you can take a shared taxi from the main town of Butare to the Gisakura area. These taxis regularly leave from the taxi park. The ride will take around 1 hour. Once you arrive at Gisakura, ask the driver to drop you off at the tourist information center, which is a well-known landmark in the area.
