Getting There

  • Walking

    Start at the center of Carmel-by-the-Sea, near Ocean Avenue and San Carlos Street. Head south on San Carlos Street toward 5th Avenue. Continue walking straight until you reach the intersection with Carmel Beach. From there, walk along the beach towards the south until you reach the end of the beach. You will see a pathway leading up to the bluffs. Follow this path until you reach the entrance of Garrapata State Park. The Bluff Trail is located a short distance from the main entrance.

    From Carmel-by-the-Sea, take the Monterey-Salinas Transit bus line 1 towards Big Sur. Get off at the Garrapata State Park stop. From the bus stop, walk about 0.3 miles south on Highway 1. The entrance to Garrapata State Park Bluff Trail will be on your right. Make sure to check the current bus schedule for timings.

  • Biking

    If you have a bike, start from the center of Carmel-by-the-Sea and head south on San Carlos Street. Merge onto Scenic Road, following the coastline. Continue until you reach the intersection with Highway 1. Carefully cross the highway and continue biking south. You'll find the entrance to Garrapata State Park on your right side. There are bike racks available for parking your bike at the park entrance.
