Ferry
To reach Georges Island National Historic Site, start at the Halifax Waterfront. From anywhere in South End Halifax, make your way towards the waterfront area. You can walk along Barrington Street until you reach the waterfront or follow the signs directing you to the Halifax Harbour. Once at the waterfront, look for the ferry terminal located at 1751 Lower Water Street. The ferry service to Georges Island operates seasonally, so check the schedule in advance. The fare for a round trip to Georges Island is approximately $12. Make sure to arrive a bit earlier to purchase your ticket and board the ferry.

If you prefer to take public transit, you can catch a bus from various locations in South End Halifax to the waterfront area. Look for Metro Transit buses that head towards the downtown area. You can take bus #1, #7, or #9, which all make stops near the waterfront. Disembark at the stop closest to Lower Water Street and follow the signs to the ferry terminal at 1751 Lower Water Street. The bus fare is around $3.50, and you can pay using cash or a prepaid Metro Transit pass.
