From any location in Greenwich, walk to the Greenwich Metro-North train station located at 2 Railroad Ave. Purchase a ticket to New York City (Grand Central Terminal). The train ride will take approximately 50 minutes. Once you arrive at Grand Central Terminal, follow the signs to the subway.

At Grand Central Terminal, take the 4 or 5 subway line from Grand Central-42nd Street station towards downtown Brooklyn and get off at the Bowling Green station. Once you exit the station, walk south on Broadway toward Battery Park and then turn left on Greenwich Street. The 9/11 Memorial & Museum will be located at 180 Greenwich St, about a 10-minute walk from the station.

Alternatively, from Greenwich, you can take the CT Transit express bus from the Greenwich Avenue and East Putnam Avenue stop (check the schedule for availability). The bus will take you to the Port Authority Bus Terminal in New York. From there, you can take the subway or walk. If you choose the subway, take the A or C line downtown to Chambers Street, then walk east to Greenwich Street, where the memorial is located.
