Start at the Greenwich train station. Board the Metro-North Railroad train heading towards Grand Central Terminal. Get off at the Peekskill station (about a 50-minute ride). From the Peekskill station, take the 'Bear Mountain Shuttle' bus (check local schedules for availability) heading to Bear Mountain State Park. The bus will take you directly to the park entrance. Make sure to check the return times for the bus to ensure you have a way back.

If you prefer to cycle, you can rent a bike in Greenwich and head north towards the scenic Route 1 (Post Road) which leads to I-287. Once you reach I-287, take the bike path that connects to Bear Mountain State Park. Please ensure you're familiar with biking safety and traffic rules.

Walking to Bear Mountain State Park from Greenwich is quite a long journey (around 20 miles) and may not be practical for most tourists. However, if you're keen on a long hike, you can start by heading north on North Street until you reach the Merritt Parkway.
