Designed by Italian architect Onofrio della Cava between 1440 and 1442, it served as a crucial part of Dubrovnik's water supply system. It was built to supply the market on Luza Square with water. The fountain features intricate carvings, including playful children, dolphins, and shells, showcasing Gothic and Renaissance artistic elements. Sculpting work was completed by Pietro di Martino from Milan. The fountain stands in a niche on the City Guard facade. Though small, it supplied water to buildings like the Rector's Palace and nearby markets. Today, the Small Onofrio's Fountain continues to provide fresh, clean drinking water to visitors. It's a popular meeting point and a refreshing stop amidst the bustling city. The fountain was damaged during the war in 1991 but has been restored.
