Getting There

  • Car

    To drive from Bombay Hook National Wildlife Refuge to Cape Henlopen State Park, start by exiting the refuge and heading north on DE-9 N. Continue on DE-9 N for approximately 12 miles until you reach the intersection with DE-1 S. Take the ramp onto DE-1 S towards Rehoboth Beach. Stay on DE-1 S for about 10 miles. Take exit 1B towards Lewes and merge onto Cape Henlopen Drive. Follow Cape Henlopen Drive for about 2 miles until you reach the park entrance at 15099 Cape Henlopen Dr, Lewes, DE 19958. Note that there is a parking fee of $5 for Delaware residents and $10 for non-residents.

    If you prefer to use public transportation, you can take the DART First State bus from the nearest stop to Bombay Hook National Wildlife Refuge. Board the DART bus route 204 towards Dover. After approximately 30 minutes, transfer to route 201 at the Dover Transit Center. Continue on route 201 to the Lewes Transit Center. From the Lewes Transit Center, you will need to take a taxi or rideshare service to reach Cape Henlopen State Park, which is around a 15-minute drive away. Public transportation options may have minimal service on weekends, so check the DART schedule in advance.
