The Sulayman Agha al-Silahdar Mosque, also known as the Mosque-Sabil-Kuttab of Sulayman Agha al-Silahdar, is a historical complex dating back to 1839 during the era of Muhammad Ali Pasha. It is located at the beginning of Burjouan alley on the famed Muizz Street, in the historic medieval district of Cairo. The mosque was founded by Sulayman Agha al-Silahdar, one of Muhammad Ali Pasha's princes. The mosque's architecture represents a fusion of Ottoman and Cairene styles. The main facade overlooks Al-Muizz Street and is constructed of stone with wooden, ornamented projecting brackets. A marble foundation slab surmounts the entrance. The mosque's rectangular layout is divided into two squares. The western section features a central court surrounded by four porticos, topped with small, shallow domes supported by marble columns. The eastern square contains the qibla iwan with three arcades parallel to the qibla wall. A wooden ceiling with simple ornamentation covers this section. Inside, the prayer niche is carved from a single block of marble and flanked by two golden friezes. The interior also features floral designs replicating European Renaissance architecture. The mosque complex includes a sabil-kuttab with a marble, circular facade adorned with Ottoman Baroque style. The minaret, attached to the main facade, is designed in the Ottoman style, resembling a pencil with two levels rising as a straight, ribbed tower.
