    From Funningur village center, follow Route 10 (Eysturoyartunnilin) north. After 2 km, turn left towards the trailhead, following signs for Gongutúrur/Hvithamar Trailhead. The trailhead is approximately 4 km from Funningur at coordinates 72XH+7V. Parking is available near the trailhead. There are no tolls on this route. Parking is free.

    Take bus route 201 from Tórshavn to Funningur. From Funningur, walk approximately 1.5 kilometers to the trailhead at coordinates 72XH+7V. Walking from Funningur to the trailhead offers scenic views of the local landscape. A single bus fare from Tórshavn to Oyrarbakki is approximately 30 DKK.
