The Kanjonin Kurkkaus trail starts from the Savilampi parking area, located off Teeriahontie Road in Salla. From Salla village, follow signs towards Oulanka National Park. Teeriahontie Road is a forest road, and the parking area is at its end. Note that there is no winter maintenance on this road. The trail is marked with green paint signs.

To reach the Kanjonin Kurkkaus trail by public transport, take a bus from Salla to a stop near the Oulanka National Park. From there, it may be necessary to walk or take a taxi to the Savilampi parking area, the trail's starting point. Check local bus schedules and taxi availability in advance, as services may be limited. Bus tickets from Kuusamo to Ruka cost approximately €20.
