L'Hôtel Calvet de la Palun, also known as the former Bank of France, is an architectural gem located in the heart of Avignon. Constructed between 1788 and 1789, it represents the last 18th-century building erected in Avignon and exemplifies the Louis XVI style. The building was designed by Jean-Pierre Franque, son of Jean-Baptiste Franque. Antoine Joseph François Xavier Calvet de la Palun commissioned the building. The building's facade features beautiful balconies and ornate detailing. In 1853, the Bank of France took up residence in the building and modified the facade facing Place du Palais. Today, the building is known as the Carré du Palais.
