From Gudauri, head southeast on the main road (Georgian Military Highway, A1) towards Tbilisi. After approximately 25 km, take a right turn at the sign for 'Abano'. Follow the winding road for about 10 km, and you'll arrive at Zakagori Fortress, which is located at the coordinates 42.6115724, 44.3740065. Parking is usually available near the fortress, but be cautious as the road can be narrow and winding.

Take a marshrutka (shared taxi) from Gudauri to Tbilisi. From the Tbilisi bus station, take a marshrutka heading towards Mtskheta, and then transfer to another marshrutka that goes to 'Abano'. Once you arrive in Abano, you will need to either hike or take a taxi to the fortress, which is about 5 km from the town center. Make sure to confirm the drop-off point with the driver, as not all marshrutkas go directly to the fortress.

If you prefer hiking, from Gudauri, follow the main road towards Tbilisi for about 5 km until you reach the turnoff for 'Abano'. Take the dirt path that leads towards Zakagori Fortress.
