Walking
If you are starting from the Heidelberg Altstadt (Old Town), make your way to the Marktplatz (Market Square). From the Marktplatz, head east on Hauptstraße. After a few minutes, you will reach a junction. Continue straight until you see the large intersection with Bismarckstraße. Cross the intersection and follow the signs for 'Schloss' (Castle). This will lead you to the footpath that goes up the hill. You will pass several shops and cafes along the way.

Public Transport
If you prefer to take public transport, head to the nearest tram stop, which is 'Bismarckplatz'. From there, you can take tram line 5 towards 'Heidelberg Horn'. Get off at the stop 'Heidelberg Schloss', which is close to the castle area. Once you exit the tram, follow the signs leading towards 'Schloss' (Castle) to find the Lift Heidelberg Castle.

Walking
From the main train station (Bahnhof), take a leisurely 20-minute walk. Exit the train station and head straight towards the pedestrian bridge (Karl-Theodor-Brücke). Cross the bridge and continue straight along the riverbank. You will eventually come to the Old Town area. Follow the directions mentioned above from the Marktplatz to get to the castle lift.
