    From Lamia city center, Plateia Laou is easily accessible on foot. Head north from Eleftherias Square, the main square, and walk along Karaiskaki Street. After a few blocks, turn left onto Plateia Laou. The statue is located in the center of the square.

Bus number 4 is one of the most useful ones, it starts from Parkou Square, goes through Athinon avenue and the whole south part of the town with the final destination being our campus and then back to the centre. Athanasios Klaras, who adopted the nom de guerre Aris Velouchiotis, led the ELAS, the military branch of the National Liberation Front (EAM), in their resistance against the Axis powers. The statue captures Velouchiotis in a dynamic pose, embodying the spirit of bravery and resilience. After the German forces left Lamia in October 1944, Velouchiotis addressed the city's residents from a balcony near the square, further cementing the location's historical importance. The Municipality of Lamia decided to erect the statue in 1985, holding a national art competition to select the design. The sculptor Kostas Kazakos won first prize and was commissioned to create the statue. Plateia Laou provides a park-like setting for visitors to reflect on the statue and its historical context.
