From the Tatabánya city center, walk to the Tatabánya bus station (Autóbusz-állomás) which is about a 10-minute walk. From there, take the bus to Budapest, which usually takes about an hour. Upon arriving at the Budapest bus station, transfer to the Metro Line 2 (red line) at 'Kápolna utca' station. Ride the Metro towards 'Örs vezér tere' for 5 stops until you reach the 'Deák Ferenc tér' station. From 'Deák Ferenc tér', transfer to Metro Line 1 (yellow line) and ride towards 'Vörösmarty tér' for 1 stop. Exit at 'Vörösmarty tér' and walk to the 'Bajcsy-Zsilinszky út' tram stop. Take tram number 4 or 6 towards 'Széll Kálmán tér' and get off at 'Hűvösvölgy' stop. From there, it's a short walk to the Children's Railway at Gyermekvasúthoz vezető út 5.

If you are already near the Hűvösvölgy area, you can walk towards Gyermekvasúthoz vezető út. Start from the Hűvösvölgy tram stop and head northwest on Hűvösvölgyi út. Continue walking straight for about 1 kilometer until you reach Gyermekvasúthoz vezető út. Turn right and the Children's Railway will be on your left at number 5. The total walking distance is approximately 15 minutes.
