Getting There

    From I-55, take exit 88 (Chatham/East Lake Drive) and head east on East Lake Shore Drive for 2.5 miles. The garden is located on the left. Alternatively, take exit 94 (Stevenson Drive/East Lake Drive) and follow East Lake Shore Drive for six miles. Free parking is available at the main entrance, with overflow parking across the road.

    From downtown Springfield, take SMTD Bus 13 or 14. Get off at the stop near the intersection of E Lake Shore Dr and E Clear Lake Ave. From there, walk east along E Lake Shore Dr for about 10 minutes to reach the garden. A single ride fare is $1.25.

The Lincoln Memorial Garden and Nature Center, located on the shores of Lake Springfield, is a unique and peaceful tribute to Abraham Lincoln. Envisioned in 1936 by Harriet Knudson and designed by landscape architect Jens Jensen, the garden aims to recreate the landscapes that Lincoln would have known in the Midwest. The 100-acre site features over six miles of interconnected trails that wind through restored prairies, woodlands, and wetlands. The Ostermeier Prairie Center, added in 1995, features a half-mile accessible trail through tallgrass prairies.
